雅思寫作的評分標準是：
- Task Response任務回應
- Coherence and Cohesion連貫性
- Lexical Resources詞彙豐富度
- Grammar Range and Accuracy語法及句式
這四個方面很重要，這就是寫作提分的重點。這四個方面的分值區域都為1.0-9.0，所佔比例也是1:1:1:1，各佔25%。
拿Task Response這個方面來舉例，7分作文的Task Response特點是：
- address all parts of the task 回應了任務中的所有問題
- presents a clear position throughout the response 全文中表現出了清晰的立場
- present, extend and support main ideas, but there may be a tendency to overgeneralize and/or supporting ideas may lack focus 表達並論證了主要觀點，但是可能過於籠統或者論據缺乏重點
6分作文的Task Response特點是：
- address all parts of the task although some parts may be more fully covered than others 回應了任務中的所有問題，但是有些問題回應地不太全面
- presents a relevant position although the conclusion may become unclear or repetitive 觀點清晰但是結尾可能不清楚或者有重複
- presents relevant main ideas but some may be inadequately developed/unclear 表達了與主題相關的主要觀點，但是沒有充分或者清晰地展開說明
對比以上兩段描述，可以總結出，寫作想要拿到7.0，必須要做到：
- 全文的觀點一致並清晰
- 表達的觀點和論據都與題目和你的立場相關
- 利用例子來解釋和支撐觀點
- 有結尾段做總結

而作文6.0-6.5的同學，常犯以下兩個major problems：
（1）Not using the correct format to get your ideas across，沒有用【正確】的文章結構清晰的表達觀點
一個清晰的、合適的文章結構能過幫助作者更容易將自己的觀點表達清楚、明白、有邏輯。如果沒有采取合適的結構，那麼，文章的表達一般也不會清晰有邏輯，得分也會在5.0之下。
（2） Not correctly analyzing and understanding the task before you write, 在寫作之前，沒有正確的分析和理解題目。
這個問題很關鍵，直接決定了你的文章是否和題目有相關性，你的答案是否全面地回應了題目。舉個例子：
題目：There are severe social consequences to housing shortages in cities and only the government can solve these problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
翻譯：房屋短缺是會引起一些很嚴重的社會問題，而這些問題只能政府來解決。你同意嗎？
典型的【觀點型】話題，審題之後，同學們可能會產生以下兩個對問題的理解方式【住房短缺引起的問題】；【住房短缺這個問題】。仔細分析一下，這個題幹有兩層意思：
1）there are severe social consequences to housing shortage, do you agree or disagree?）住房短缺會引起很多社會問題，你同意嗎？
2) only the government can solve these problems, do you agree or disagree?只有政府才能解決這些問題，你同意嗎？
